Hugh H. "Doc" Hall, 88, longtime resident of Geneseo, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at Aspen Rehab and Health Care in Silvis. Funeral services will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Schroder Mortuary in Colona with visitation starting at 5 p.m. until service time. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Doc was born on Oct. 30, 1924, in Parkers Prairie, Minn., the son of Hugh and Bertha Gillette Hall. He married Roberta "Bobbie" Ghys. He retired from John Deere Harvester after 32 years of service. After his retirement, he worked for another 14 years at Franciscan Hospital in Rock Island. Doc spoke often of his times growing up in Parkers Prairie; he was the youngest of nine children and enjoyed going back to Parkers Prairie for class reunions and visiting with family and friends. He loved to dance at the Col Ballroom in Davenport and enjoyed polka music, photography and anything John Deere. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Bobbie; stepson, Randy (Sherri) Hansen; grandchildren, Brock, Katlyn and Blake; great-grandchildren, Carter and Ryder; brothers-in-law, Frank (Delores) Ghys and Dan (Helen) Ghys; sister-in-law, Janet Ledbetter; and several nieces and nephews, including Lynn (Germaine) Smith, Kenny (Genandel) Atwell, Jill (Jake) Hultman and Nancy (Pete) Abruzzo. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Maurice, Glen and Kenny; five sisters, Hazel, Alice, Veda, Norma and Jean; in-laws, Frank Sr., Ruth Ghys; and sister-in-law and husband, Dorothy and George Mandel.
