Jack Hobbs

Jack N. Hobbs, 91, of Silvis passed away Monday March 21, 2016 at Hope Creek Care Center in East Moline. Funeral Services will be private. Visitation will be 5-7pm Wednesday at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Silvis United Methodist Church. Jack was born July 2, 1924 in Haleyville, OK the son of Jack B. and Edna Collins Hobbs. He married Eleanor Christensen Oct. 21, 1951 in Rock Island. Jack served 2 tours in the Navy during WWII and was in the reserves during the Korean Conflict. He worked as an electrician for Rock Island Lines and Alcoa. Jack was a 50 year Mason. He won multiple awards for his master model ship building expertise. Survivors include his wife Eleanor; children Julie (John) Doy of West Des Moines, IA and Sue (John) Whipple of The Villiages, FL; grandchildren Christy Rade and Jacob Doy both of Des Moines, Andrew Whipple of East Moline, Sarah Weller of Coal Valley, Brandon Hobbs of Fyre Lake, Jack N. Hobbs of Silvis and Brianna Hobbs of LeClaire, IA and one great grandaughter Bobbi Weller. Jack was preceded in death by his parents and a son Jack B. Hobbs.
