Jack Hobbs

Jack Hobbs, 49, of Silvis, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at his home. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. Visitation will be noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Jack was born March 18, 1963, in Moline, the son of Jack N. and Eleanor Christensen Hobbs. He married Janet Rowe Aug. 29, 1998, in Moline. Jack worked at Ernie's Auto in Silvis for 20 years before he became owner of Hobbs Auto Repair in Silvis. He was a total Harley man and enjoyed collecting antiques, classic cars, mushroom hunting for morels, fishing, music, researching his family genealogy and spending time with his family and dogs. Survivors include his parents, Jack and Eleanor Hobbs; his wife, Janet; children, Brandon C., Jack N. and Brianna L. Hobbs, all of Silvis; sisters Julie Doy, West Des Moines, Iowa, and Sue Whipple, The Villages, Fla. Jack was preceded in death by his grandparents. The family would like to thank MDA-ALS Foundation, Iowa City Healthcare and Trinity Hospice for the support and care given to Jack.
