James “Jimmy” Leroy Kelley of Green Rock/Colona went to heaven peacefully at his family home July 11, 2021 surrounded by his family and one of his best buddies Don Clevenger.
A memorial service will be 12 noon Saturday, July 17 at Schroder Mortuary, Colona with visitation 1 hour prior to service time. Memorials may be made to the family. A seafood boil will follow at the Rock River. Please ask family for details.
Jimmy was born January 16, 1967 in Moline, IL the son of Clarence “Leroy” and Susan C. Miller Kelley. He was actively involved with the Son’s of the American Legion Post #1233 and volunteered starting as a young boy with fish fry’s and numerous other events including one of his favorites, walking in the Memorial Day Parade passing out candy to everyone in the city he loved.
Jimmy had a heart of gold and would help anyone in need. He loved and protected his family with everything he had. He had many friends he shared his love and fun with. Jimmy had a few stumbles and sometimes fell by the way and fought some hard battles. He fought through them with his big smile, please and thank you’s, and let nothing get in his way.
Throughout his life enjoyed motorcycle racing, wheelbarrow racing, frog hunting, trapping, camping, boating, and fishing especially for the biggest catfish in the Rock River. He told his family he had a good life and lived all his 14 lives to the fullest.
Survivors include his bestest friend and momma Sue; sisters Carol (JC) Griffin, Crystal (Mark) Erikson, and Brandy Kelley; nieces and nephews Nichole, Stormi, Dakota, Landon, Torie, Dallas, and Brandyn and 7 great nephews and nieces.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his father Clarence “Leroy” Kelley.
