Services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Schroder Mortuary, Colona. Burial is at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the mortuary. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. He was born on Aug. 4, 1922, in Shelbina, Mo., son of Roy and Nora Smith Way. He married Jane Gramling on July 17, 1959. She passed away on March 27, 2003. He served in the Navy during World War II. He retired from Amatek and later worked as a custodian in the Moline Public Schools. He was an avid Cardinals fan. Survivors include his daughters, Cindy Johnson, Colona, Sandy (Rich) Southworth, Western Springs, and Kathleen (Randall) Alexander, Rocheport, Mo.; grandchildren, Jerame Way, Brandon Johnson, Ashley Johnson, Rhys (Emma) Southworth, Taylor Southworth, Jasson (Corban) McNeil, Adam McNeil and Jim (Tina) McNeil; and great-grandchildren, Lex McNeil and Jack McNeil. He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Gene Way; three sisters; and two brothers.
