James Wilmington

James Wilmington was born in Water Valley, Mississippi on March 29, 1948 to the union of Jimmie and Isabelle Wilmington. James later moved to Davenport, Iowa in the mid 1960's. In November of 1966, he married Patricia Wilmington and to this union seven children were born. He later worked at John Deere Foundry. James also trained to be a Davenport Policeman. James enjoyed family vacations, fine cars and nice clothing. His hobbies Included singing and playing the guitar. On Friday August 11, 2017, James was called home. He was preceded in death by his father and mother; three brothers: Jimmie, Johnny and Robert Wilmington; and three sisters: Irene Henderson, Ruby Wilmington and Annie Mae Richardson. James leaves to cherish his memory his six sons: Ronald (Marilyn) Wilmington of Davenport, Iowa, Donald Wilmington of EL Cajon, California, Basil Wilmington of Davenport Iowa, Isaac (Shannon) Wilmington of Davenport, Iowa, Vernon (Ebonie) Wilmington of Davenport, Iowa, and Ezekiel Mitchell of Davenport, Iowa: two daughters; Marjorie (Maurice) Coffey of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Angela Wilmington-Tot of Davenport, Iowa: five sisters, Mary Emma (David) White of Davenport, Iowa, Ida Belle (Hubert) Woodard Memphis Tennessee, Betty Jean (Leon) Steen of Omaha Nebraska, Dorothy Welch (George) of Lancaster California, and Loumentra Brown (Westly) of Lancaster California; 24 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Services are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Church of God, 1234 Ripley Street Davenport, Iowa, with Pastor Donnell Owens officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hills Cemetery in Davenport, Iowa. Visitation will be held before service at 9:30a.m, with funeral service immediately following.
