Jane Annan McInnes Black Tennant, 76, of Silvis, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at UnityPoint Health-Trinity Rock Island. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9, at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. Visitation will be noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Jane was born Feb. 27, 1937, in Glasgow, Scotland, to John Alexander and Elizabeth Annan McInnes Black. She married John Tennant on July 18, 1958, in Knightswood, Scotland. Jane and John came to the United States in October 1960. John died on Dec. 5, 2001. Jane was a bookkeeper for Modern Woodmen and worked most of her career for Anchor Lumber Co. in Silvis. She was an avid follower of her grandchildren's athletic activities. John and Jane were the founding members of the Scottish American Heritage Society of the Quad Cities. She was an avid golfer, world traveler and enjoyed vacationing in Dauphin Island, Ala. She also was owner of Britches-N-Stuff in Silvis. She was known as Aunt Jane or Jean to so many. Survivors include her children, Kim Elizabeth (Danny) Sweeney and Stuart John (Ellen) Tennant; grandchildren, Ian Kyle (Kamala) Pavelonis, Chase Matthew Pavelonis, Maggie Gant and Molly J. Tennant; great-grandson, Thierry Kyle Pavelonis; a brother, George (Betty) Black; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Chick and Ty Thomson; sister-in-law, Nan Black; special niece and nephew, Lynn Elizabeth (Donnie) Hunt and Raymond Charles Thomson; and numerous family in Scotland. Jane's family would like to thank UnityPoint in Rock Island, Dr. Alyas Chaudhry and his team and special nurses, Barb, Theresa and Stephanie. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; a brother, Alec Black; and a sister, Betty Thomson.
