Jean M. Rangel, 73, of East Moline, passed away Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014, at her home. As she wished, Jean will be cremated. A celebration of her life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Christ United Methodist Church in East Moline. Memorials may be made to the food pantry at the church. Jean was born Nov. 15, 1940, in Moline, the daughter of Raymond "Bud" and Mary Jane Stevens Evans. She married Ernie Rangel on Oct. 27, 1962, in Silvis. He passed away Dec. 5, 1993. Jean worked at Ben Franklin in Silvis and later retired from Illini Hospital after 30 years as a dietary aide. Jean loved reading, crosswords, knitting, thrift shopping and spending time at the Milan softball fields. She especially loved spending time with her family. Survivors include her children, Christopher (Becky) Rangel, East Moline, Greg Rangel, Battle Creek, Mich., and Alex Rangel, Milan; grandchildren, Niklas, Danae, Steven, Devon, Emilee, Bubba, Spencer and Quintten; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Alexis, Adyn, Julianna, Khloe, Kellan and one on the way; and a sister, Patti Thornhill, Taylor Ridge. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a son, Tony.
