Jeffrey V. Kent, 50, of Silvis, died Monday, April 4, 2011, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at the Ybarro Gomez VFW, 257 17th Ave., East Moline. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at Family Credit Union through Ray Terronez. They also can be made at www.familycu.org.
Jeff was born April 4, 1961, in Hamilton, Bermuda, to John V. and Mary (Fleming) Kent. He married Carmen Hay on Aug. 23, 2006, in Sanborn, Iowa.
He was a welding inspector at McLaughlin in Rock Island.
He was an avid Chicago Bears and Illini fan. He owned a 1968 Camaro and enjoyed muscle cars, hot rod magazines, rock and roll and the blues. He also loved grilling out. He was an avid NASCAR fan.
Survivors include his mother, Mary (Fleming) and stepfather, William Powell, Colona; wife, Carmen, Silvis; daughters, Cassandra Marie Kent, St. Charles, Ill., and Brittany Kent, St. Charles; grandchild, Jordan Crespo; stepchildren, Adam Woodhurst, Moline, Emiliana Hardin, Silvis, Sebastian Hardin, East Moline, and Nick Snelling, Moline; godchildren, Catanna DeMent and Mario Raya Sr., Tanisha and Vicente Tadeo, Savanah Raya and Mario Raya Jr.; three stepgrandchildren, Quintin, Quincy and Amador Goeden; brother, David (Cathy) Clementz, Colona; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
