Jerome Soukup

Jerome E. Soukup, 95, of Moline, passed away Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, at Rosewood Care Center, Moline. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis, with a rosary at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Jerome was born on June 28, 1918, in Ridgeway, Iowa, the son of James R. and Marie Blackburn Soukup. He served in the Navy during World War II. He married Ceceil Anderson on May 30, 1941, in Bettendorf. She passed away Sept. 18, 2006. Jerome owned and operated Modern Heating and Sheet Metal in East Moline, with his business partner, Luverne Biorn. Survivors include sons, Jerry W. (Geri) Soukup, Woods Landing, Wyo., Gregory R. (Debrah) Soukup, Bakersfield, Calif., and Bruce A. (Herlinda) Soukup, East Moline; grandchildren, Mary Johns, Sheryl Lynn Soukup, Bruce James and Joe and Steve Soukup; and great-grandchildren, Elijah and Ezekiel Soukup, Alexander Soukup and Garret and Matthew Johns. He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife of 65 years, two sisters and five brothers.
