Jerry Kays, 73, Moline, formerly Silvis, died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011.
Funeral service is 10 a.m. Wednesday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Schroder. Burial is at Roselawn Memorial Estates, Moline. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Genesis Hospice.
Jerry was born January 17, 1938 in East St. Louis the son of Walter and Corlinda Tisdal Kays. He married Shirley Cisco in 1958. She died in 2001. He served in the Air Force during Vietnam and worked for the City of Silvis retiring after 30 years. Jerry survived a heart transplant in 1997. He enjoyed collecting antiques and fishing
Survivors include children, Jerry (Terry) Kays, Silvis, Bernice (Mitch) Powers, Silvis, and Robert (Lori) Kays, Moline; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Massey; and a brother, Bob.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a son Donald.
