Jesse C. Huddleston

Jesse C. Huddleston, 87, of Moline passed away Monday, February 12, 2024 at Celebration Senior Living of Moline. 

Visitation will be 12-2pm Saturday, February 17, 2023 at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis. Graveside services will follow at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline for both Jesse and the love of his life, Ruth. 

Jesse was born January 11, 1937 in Rock Island, IL the son of Russel and Mary (Lodgson) Huddleston. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era. Jesse married Ruth DeVries January 17, 1969 in Milan, IL. She preceded him in death November 19, 2020. 

Jesse was proud of his career at Farmall and he retired from Navistar in 1994. He served on the safety committee for Local 402 and was a board member of the Mississippi Valley Country Music Fest for 9 years.  He coached a youth Christian basketball team and enjoyed playing the piano, the organ, the guitar, and the banjo. He played for many local jazz and Dixieland bands and especially enjoyed playing piano and organ alongside his late wife.  

Survivors include his children Julie Hillyer of Rock Island and Janet (Eddie) Gruszeczka, and Randy (Brenda) Huddleston; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.  

Jesse was preceded in death by his parents, brother Hugh, and a daughter in law Anita Schindler, grandson Rocky, and great grandson Mason.
