Jesus "Jessie" Vasquez- Sierra, 95, of Silvis, IL passed away peacefully Thurs. Feb. 25, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10am Monday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Silvis. Visitation will be 1-3pm and 4-7pm with a rosary at 1pm Sunday at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in East Moline. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Alternatives for Older Adults or Genesis Hospice. Jessie was born Nov. 2, 1920 in Silao, GTO, Mexico the daughter of Ignacio and Leonarda Nunez Vasquez. She worked at the American CafAC., Frank's Pizzeria, and the former Townhouse in Silvis. Jessie married Amador T. Sierra, Sr. Sept. 28, 1940 in Silvis. He preceded her in death Aug. 13, 1995. She was a woman of faith, a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Our Lady's Altar Society, the Ladies Auxiliary of Foreign Wars Post 8890 and a former member of St. Monica's Arts and crafts. Jessie enjoyed pulling weeds and gardening. She loved her family and friends and was a good listener. Jessie was famous for her signature potluck food "Jessie's Tostadas." Survivors include her daughters Veronica, Rita and Martina; sons Simon, Paul, James, Peter, Francisco V., Fr. Angel and Raymond; sister Andrea; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jessie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son Amador Jr.; daughter Esperanza and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
