Jim passed away peacefully in is sleep on his 89th birthday in Rock Island.
Born in Lexington, Nebraska the son of Theodore and Mary Spurgetis. Jim was a graduate of Moline High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict and was discharged honorably. In the Quad Cities, Jim was employed by Ametek. He relocated to Murrieta, California and was an Owner/vice president of Rancho Electronics. Jim was an avid golfer and sports fan.
He is survived by his sons, Steven (Julia)Spurgetis, Hazelwood, MO, Timothy (Tiffany) Spurgetis, East Moline and his brother Nick (Fran)Spurgetis, Moline. Grandchildren, Alexander and Nicholas Spurgetis, Hazelwood, MO, Madison Alaniz, Colorado Springs, Shane Spurgetis, Colorado Springs and Evan Spurgetis, New York as well as 3 great grandchildren. Also left behind were many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Gus, George and Pete Spurgetis and sisters Ann Cole, Evangeline Hayden, Lucille Spurgetis and Cleo Malires.
A memorial visitation will be 4-7pm with a prayer at 6pm Friday, September 30th at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis with visitation 2 hours prior to service time. A celebration of life will be held at the home of Tim and Tiffany (232 37th Ave, East Moline) Saturday October 1st starting at 1pm. All friends and family are welcome. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or St George Greek Orthodox Church.
