John Carroll

John Richard Carroll, 34, of Colona, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015, at his home after a long battle with brain cancer. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Schroder Mortuary in Colona. Graveside services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. John was born May 13, 1980, in Silvis, the son of Joseph "Joe" and Sue Carroll. He married Cecylia Bainter on Oct. 1, 2010, in Henry County. John enjoyed NASCAR and stock car racing on dirt tracks. Survivors include his wife, Cecylia; children, Jordyn Carroll, Joseph Bainter and Jayde Bainter; his parents, Joe and Sue Carroll; grandmother, Donna Lester; and grandfather, Ben Schumm; his siblings, Karrie (Lyle) Higgins and Nick Cocquit. His biological mother, Karen; grandmother, Helen Schumm; grandparents, John and Elgina Carroll; grandfather, Everett Lester; and grandfather, James Porter, preceded John in death.
