John R. Miller, 84, of Cordova, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2011, at Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton.
Services will be private. Schroder Mortuary in Silvis is assisting the family with arrangements.
John was born Aug. 6, 1926, in East Moline, the son of John R. and Faye A. Millett Miller. He married Patricia L. Long Dec. 28, 1971, in Carthage, Ill.
John served in the Army during World War I and World War II. He served in the 831st ENG.AVN.BN. He was discharged honorably and re-enlisted and was promoted to a technical sergeant.
He worked as a sheet metal worker at the local 91 in Rock Island. He also owned a siding and roofing company in Albany.
John is survived by his wife, Patricia; sons, Richard W. (Gretchen) Miller, Gibert, Ariz., and Wayne A Miller, Clinton, Iowa; grandchildren, Dessire Miller, Dixon, Ill., and Amanda Miller, Gibert. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
