John W. Wickersham, 74, of East Moline, passed away Friday, June 27, 2014, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline. Memorials may be made to the family. John was born Jan. 28, 1940, in Davenport, the son of Wayne and Velma Wickersham. He married Presy Moreno on Sept. 6, 1960, in Georgetown, Texas. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. John worked at John Deere Harvester in East Moline, retiring in 1993. He enjoyed fishing and camping and was an avid Bears fan. Survivors include his wife, Presy; children, Louise (Odon) Mendez, John Jr. (Carman) and Patrick (Vickie) Wickersham, all of East Moline; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a sister, Shirley Schoot, Reno, Nev. He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant brother. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Hope Creek Care Center for their exceptional care.
