Josephine Soliz, 84, of Colona, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis.
Mass will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Colona. Visitation will be 2-4 and 5-7 p.m. today at the church, with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Memorials may be made to Quad Cities Right to Life. Schroder Mortuary, Colona, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Josephine was born Oct. 31, 1926, in Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico, the daughter of Emiliano and Anna Cobos Terronez. She married Frank J. Soliz on July 24, 1950, in Moline.
She worked as a nurse's aid in the emergency room at Moline Public Hospital. Josephine was a volunteer counselor at the Crisis Pregnancy Center and was very involved with Quad Cities Right to Life. She was an advocate for Pro-Life and helped bring TEC (Teens Encounter Christ) and Cursillo to the Quad-Cities. She was a member of St. Anne's Altar Society and the choir at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Josephine loved music and singing, especially mariachi music, often joining in singing with her husband's band. She also enjoyed crocheting.
Survivors include her husband, Frank; children, Marc (Alohna) Soliz, Jackson, Wyo., Stephanie (Robert) Dowdal, Colona, Theodore Soliz, Davenport, Joey (Guadalupe) Soliz, Silvis, Kevin Soliz, Colona, Sara (Charles) Cervantes, Silvis, and Stella (Daniel) Soliz-Holmes, Colorado; grandchildren, Kathleen Holley, Charles "CJ" Cervantes II, Janell Soliz, Jaclyn Cervantes, Sarah Soliz, Kelin Soliz, Nicole Cervantes, David Soliz, Andrew Dowdal, Brianna Soliz, Kelsy Soliz, Adam Soliz, Zackary Dowdal and Claire Soliz; great-grandchildren, Celia Cervantes, Jillian Holley, Jacob Holley, Ava Nees and Isabella Macias-Cervantes; brothers, Steve, Sid, Joseph, Frank and Ray Terronez; sisters, Phyllis Cabrera, Lupe Carlson, Tina Gimm, Amelia Ireland, Luz Huffman and Maria Terronez.
Josephine was preceded in death by her brother, Charles; and her parents.
