Juan J. Lara, 73, of Silvis passed away November 30, 2020 at Trinity Rock Island.
Visitation will be 4-7pm Thursday at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis. In accordance with public gathering guidelines, social distancing as well as capacity limits will be followed within the funeral home and masks will be required. Funeral mass will be private at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church followed by burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery in East Moline. Memorials may be made to the family.
Juan was born July 23, 1947 in Nuevo Laredo, Tamps. the son of Jose and Maria Reynero Lara. He married Monica M. Munos June 21, 1969. Juan worked as a young boy to help support his family. He came to the US and started working as a bus boy at LeClaire Hotel in Moline. He later worked for Franks Foundries in Moline for 10 years and then IH for 5 years. He retired from Tyson in August of 2015 after 32 years. Juan enjoyed being outdoors and working in his yard. He always kept busy and loved family cookouts and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Monica; children Jose (Melody) Lara, Juan J. II (Lisa) Lara, Isaac D. (Sherri) Lara, and Alicia V. (Genaro) Sepeda; grandchildren Sarah, BreAnna, Sydney, Baily, Xavier, Ashlynn, Emma, Giano, Nano, and Lorenzo; great grandchildren Naviah, Yosiah, and Arlo on the way; siblings Ma. Socorro, Isabela, Pilar, Carmelo, Pedro, Concha, Emma, and Juana.
Juan was preceded in death by his parents, brother Santos, father in law Joe M. Munos, and sister in law Veronica M. Munos-White.
