Lena M. Britt

Lena Mae Britt, 84, of East Moline, IL, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.

Visitation will be 1-4pm Sunday, April 27, 2025 at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis. Graveside services will be 12:00pm Monday at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline.

Lena Mae LaFerrara was born on June 3, 1940 to John and Evelyn LaFerrara. Lena graduated from United Township High School. She married young and had three children but as the strong woman she was, raised her three children as a single mom. Her role as a nurturer extended beyond her children—she lovingly raised some of her grandchildren as well.

Lena was also a proud and devoted dog mom to her two cherished Chihuahuas, Izabella and Ezmarelda.

Lena worked as a housekeeper for many years for various places including North Hill/Park Vista, Super 8 and The Lighthouse. After retiring, she lived life to the fullest - enjoying her winning streaks at the casino, scratching off lottery tickets, and sipping banana margaritas. Lena enjoyed Andy Griffith reruns and never missed an episode of Wheel of Fortune. Her love for the Hocus Pocus movie was unmatched by anyone.

Lena lived a life overflowing with love, laughter, and an unstoppable spirit. She had a way of brightening every room she entered, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her. With her signature purple hair and spunky personality, she turned heads and sparked conversations.

Lena cherished taking her grandchildren to the Rock Island County Fair every year, never missing a single one. And as they grew older, they made sure she never missed a year either, continuing the tradition of making memories over lemonade shake ups and funnel cakes. Lena was endlessly adored by her grandchildren, who spoiled her without hesitation, and she never missed a chance to brag about it.

Though her absence will be deeply felt, her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her.

Those left to honor her beautiful memory include her son, Tim Britt; Son-in-law, Bill Dunahoo; grandchildren, Tara Dunahoo (Josh Watters), Kristin Schatteman, Katie Anderson, Jaimee Haynie, Cody Dunahoo, and Jerica Wells; great-grandchildren, Dallas Schatteman, Audrey Schatteman, Aiden Haynie, Allison Haynie and another great-grandson due in June; her beloved chihuahua Ezmarelda

Lena was preceded in death by her parents John and Evelyn LaFerrara, her brother Harry LaFerrara, her two daughters Monica Wells and Tyrena Dunahoo and her dearest chihuahua, Izabella
