Leroy J. Forbes Sr., 75, of East Moline, died Friday, Nov. 19, 2010, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. today at the mortuary. Memorials may be made to the family.
He was born Oct. 15, 1935, in Iowa City, Iowa, to William and Jessie Sypher Forbes.
Leroy worked at John Deere Foundry, retiring in 1989, after 33 years of service. He was a member of New Day Deaf Ministry in Silvis.
He loved camping, auctions, going to hockey games and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his children, Marilyn (Cindy) Freeman, Davenport, Leroy Forbes Jr., East Moline, Candi (Tom) Ryckegham, Moline, and Todd (Michele) Forbes, Colona; sisters, Marilyn Epperly, Mary Lou Kilburn and Barb Kilburn, all of Muscatine; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren, with one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Charles Michael "Mikey" Forbes.
