Lester D. Ball, 77, of Haines City, Fla., formerly of Colona, passed away Sept. 27, 2012, at his home.
Funeral service will be 1p.m. Friday at Schroder Mortuary, Colona, with visitation two hours prior to service time at the mortuary. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the family.
Lester was born Oct. 11, 1934, in Rose Hill, Va., the son of Lester William and Nancy Oaks Ball. He married Wanda L. Owens on June 6, 1959, in Kingsport, Tenn.
Lester served in the Army, then worked at Alcoa, retiring after 30 years. He then moved to Florida where he managed a golf course.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda; daughters, Tammy (Todd) Hart, Becker, Minn., and Kelli (Dan) Cogdill, East Moline; grandchildren, Rachel Dalton, Lindsay Dalton, Tyler Hart and Travis Hart; brothers, Bill, Churchill, Tenn., and Jimmy, Kingsport, Tenn. Lester was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Harold.
