Loretta May King, 89, formerly of East Moline passed away July 18, 2014 in Deltona, Fla. Schroder mortuary, Silvis, is in charge of arrangements. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Services are 10 a.m. Thursday also at the mortuary. Burial is at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the family. Loretta was born Oct. 24, 1924, the daughter of Otto H. and Edna Stites Whisler. She married John D. King on Feb. 9, 1944, at her parents home. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in East Moline. She belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star of Illinois Rose Chapter No. 626 at Silvis Masonic Lodge, Rock Island County Farm Bureau and AARP. Loretta was employed for many years as a computer bookkeeper for several area businesses. She last worked as office manager at Wilson's in Davenport, retiring in 1980. She enjoyed traveling, camping trips and a host of friends. She also loved her little dogs very much. She and her husband had lived in Illinois most of their lives, but after having several health problems, they moved to Florida in May 2004 to be closer to their son. Survivors include her beloved husband of 70 years; son and daughter-in-law, James D. and Margaret King, Lake Mary, Fla.; seven granddaughters; four great-granddaughters; two great-grandsons; one great-great-granddaughter; and many neices, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her son John Jr.; her parents; her sister, Marjorie King; and a daughter-in-law, Sandra King.
