Louise Hood

Louise Elizabeth Hood, 101, of Silvis passed away Saturday - May 23, 2015 at Unity Point Rock Island. Funeral services will be 10am Friday at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis. Visitation will be 4-7pm Thursday at the mortuary. Burial will be at North Cemetery in Geneseo. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Louise was born May 24, 1913 in Altoona, IA the daughter of Ora and Estella Shealor Strain. She married Lewis Hood in 1935 in Kewanee, IL. He passed away March 2, 1991. Louise worked at Hammond henry Hospital in Geneseo for 19 years. She enjoyed collecting salt and pepper sets and currently has over 400. She also enjoyed traveling with her son Richard and his wife Mary, family gatherings and spending time with her friends at Warren Towers pitching pennies and playing bingo. Survivors include her sons Richard (Mary) Hood of East Moline and Glenn Hood of Aledo; 5 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren. Louise was preceded in death by her husband and 2 sisters.
