Louise C. VanDeWoestyne, 92, of Colona, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at Heritage Health Care Center in Bloomington, Ill.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Colona. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Schroder Mortuary in Colona. Burial will be at Dayton Corners Cemetery in Colona. Memorials may be made to St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Louise was born on Oct. 20, 1919, in Delia, Kan., the daughter of Emil and Mary VandeVelde Mattan. She married Frances "Pete" VanDeWoestyne on April 6, 1940, in Geneseo. He passed away in 1990.

Louise was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Colona, where she also was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, Blue Cross Sewing, Autumn Leaves and St. Patrick's Coffee Club. She also was a member of War Mothers and recently was a member of St. Patrick's, of Merna, in Bloomington. She loved reading, gardening, crocheting and spending time with her family.

Survivors include, her children, Eugene VanDeWoestyne, Camdenton, Mo., Peggy Barkman, Crown Point, Ind., and Kay (John) Fifer, Bloomington; grandson, Brandon (Katrina) Fifer, Bloomington; and great-grandchildren, Tristan and Morgan; sister, Mary Cowan, Silver Lakes, Kan.

Louise was preceded in death by her husband; brothers, Remi, August, Albert and Henry Mattan; sisters, Ann Tholl and Elizabeth Tholl.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Pat, Karen and Ashley Burghgrave who have helped tremendously for the last few years and also all the staff at Heritage Health Care and Evergreen Village Supportive Living in Bloomington/Normal for the exceptional care given to Louise.
