Lowell W. Delp, 86, of Silvis, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, at his home. Services are 12:30 p.m. Friday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. Visitation is 10 a.m. to service time at the mortuary. Burial is at Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made to the family. He was born July 23, 1926, in Geneseo, son of Elmer and Alta Delp. He married Anita Bennett on Feb. 18, 1950, in Silvis. She passed away Dec. 15, 2010. He retired from the Marine Corp Reserve serving during the Korean Conflict and World War II. Lowell retired from the Rock Island Arsenal as a supervisor of a weld and fabrication branch. He was a member of Illowa Marine Corp League and was a life member of the NRA. He loved fishing, gardening and participating in International Rifle Shooting. He was very active and was given special recognition for his time volunteered to Toys For Tots. Lowell especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his children, Rodney (Julie) Delp, East Moline, Tracy (Pat) Delp, North Carolina, and Bonnie (Dave) Leemans, Port Byron; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Bertha Wake. He was preceded in death by his wife; brother, Arlon; and sisters, Irene and Lois.
