M. Phyllis Jennings, 91, of Colona, passed away Friday, April 11, 2014, at Hope Creek Care Center in East Moline. A Celebration of her life will be from 1 to 3 p.m. May 4, at Colona American Legion Post 1233. A memorial visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, at Schroder Mortuary in Colona, with an Order of Eastern Star service at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family. Interment at Dayton Corners Cemetery will be at a later date. Phyllis was born Oct. 14, 1922, in Seymour, Iowa, the daughter of Hosea and Inez Darrah Sager. She married John P. Jennings on Feb. 13, 1948, in Silvis. He passed away July 14, 1999. Phyllis worked for John Deere Harvester during World War II. She was 50-year charter member of the Colona American Legion Post 1233 and a member and past matron of Order of the Eastern Star in Silvis. Phyllis loved crafts and animals, especially cats and dogs. Survivors include her daughter-in-law, JoAnn Sager, Moline; five grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, including Ryan Sager; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Gary; granddaughter; one brother; and one sister.
