Margaret G. Spicer, 82, of Port Byron, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at her home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the family. Margaret was born Nov. 4, 1931, in Bluefield, Va., the daughter of Charles and Mary Jones Roaten. She collected jewelry and enjoyed needlepoint, puzzles and playing Yahtzee with her family. Survivors include her children, John C. Ward, Port Byron, Barbara A. Perdue, Port Byron, and Mary Profitt, Texas; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Charles (Joyce) Roaten, Bedford, Va., William Roaten, Bluefield, Bessie Fields, Bedford, Va., Barbara (Joe) Angles, Hillsdale, Betty Roaten, Bluefield, and Peggy Hecker, Bluefield. Margaret was preceded in death by her daughter, Judith Moyer; and sisters, Ollie Dillow and Gayle Roaten.
