Mary C. Decker, 76, of East Moline, died Saturday, March 26, 2011, at Trinity Pathway Hospice, Bettendorf.
Visitation is 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. Inurnment will be May 7 at Dayton Corners Cemetery, Colona. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Colona American Legion Honor Guard.
She was born May 8, 1934, in Brighton, Iowa, to James and Cecil Rich Porter. She married Raymond Garrett on Sept. 13, 1952, in Washington, Iowa. He died June 11, 1967. She later married Harold Decker on Dec. 15, 1988, in Carbon Cliff. He died Dec. 7, 2007.
Mary was a waitress and cook for many years at the former American Cafe in Silvis and owned Mary's Tap in Carbon Cliff. She loved cooking and continued cooking at Black Hawk College and a daycare in Silvis. She also enjoyed reading, camping and traveling to Arizona.
Survivors include her children, Roxanna (Bob) Peyer, Moline, and Steven Garrett, Carbon Cliff; stepchildren, Lori Sletten, Orion, and Larry Decker, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Connie and Ray Garrett, both of Texas, Jeff Higgerson, Moline, Jody (Mike) Quinones, Rock Island, and Julie (Tim) Zei, Lyle, Ill.; stepgrandchildren, Mike and Rebecca Yarbrough and Sarah Sletten; great-grandchildren, Raymond Michael Jr., Makayla, Gavin, and Alyssa Quinines and Hannah Zei; and stepgreat-grandchildren, Joe and Ava.
