Mary S. Grubaugh, 74, of Clarksville, Iowa, formerly of Green Rock, passed away Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at her home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Schroder Mortuary, Colona, with visitation one hour prior to service time. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital. Mary was born Nov. 14, 1939, in Quincy, Ill., daughter of Elmer and Belva Robinson Brown. She married Roy McClain on June 30, 1959, in Dixon. He passed away Feb. 17, 1975. She later married Vance Grubaugh on May 8, 1976, in Green Rock. He passed away July 31, 1986. Mary worked as a bartender at Fuzzy's in Colona and Leo's Tap in East Moline. She loved reading and her computer. Survivors include her children, Dorthy Young, Roy McClain Jr., Thryl James Wright, Elmer Joe McClain, Linda Capes, Derek "Duke" McClain and Dusty Werner; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Clarence Brown, Duane "Unk" Brown and Norma Murray. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, two daughters and a sister, Marilyn Joan "Aunt Jo."
