Mary L. Redman, 91, of Port Byron passed away June 29, 2023 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

Mary lived a long and meaningful life. Born on October 12,1931 to Homer and Alice Heyvaert in Silvis IL, she grew up in the rural community of Erie IL along with her siblings Erma and Bob. On August 12, 1950 she married Willard Redman. Together they created a life so many of us wish we had, a life filled with love and happiness. Soon to follow, a son, Danny and daughters Dianna and Steph, completed their family. Mary dedicated her life to her husband and children. Working as a respiratory therapist for many years at Lutheran Hospital did not stop her from giving her family the love and care that was so important to her, family always came first. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, watching them grow and proud of the adults they are now.

Outside of her family she enjoyed dinners with her friends, NASCAR Racing, taking her RV to her favorite campgrounds to enjoy nature and the quite that comes with it and most importantly, a cold beer on a hot day. When anyone would ask her "how are you doing today Mary", she would reply "ornery as ever." For those of us that knew Mary well, we know she truly lived up to those words.

Although she lost her loving husband, Willard unexpectedly and her son Danny to a long illness she stayed strong, living her remaining days filled with the joy her daughter Dianna, son in law Larry, Steph and Pete, and grandchildren Trevor and Alycia brought her.

Mary fought hard to stay in the world of her family and friends that meant so much to her. In the end God told her it was time to rest, she had accomplished what He put her on this earth for.

Never measure your life by possessions. Measure it by the hearts you touched, the smiles you created and the love you share.

Mary truly touched our hearts, created many smiles, and filled our hearts with love.

Survivors include her daughter and son in law Dianna Redman and Larry DeBoard of Port Byron; Steph Bein of Manitowoc, WI; grandchildren Trevor, Alycia, Ashley, and Danielle; 4 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, sister Erma, brother Bob, and son in law Pete.
