Melissa King passed away suddenly Monday, April 11, 2016, at the Central Florida Regional Hospital, Sanford, Fla. Melissa's visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, April 19, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis. Funeral will begin at 9 a.m. April 20 at Schroder Mortuary and Mass at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe, Silvis. She is the daughter of James and Margaret King. Melissa was born Dec. 24, 1970, at Moline Public Hospital. She attended Moline Catholic grade schools. In 1985, the family moved to Lansing, Ill., a suburb of Chicago, where Melissa attended Thornwood High School and college to pursue her dream of becoming a paralegal. She worked for several law firms in the city of Chicago. In 2005, Melissa moved to Lake Mary, Fla., to be closer to her parents and sister. She worked in the legal department of the corporate office of Darden Restaurants. Melissa was an active member of the All Souls Catholic Church in Sanford. She is survived by her parents, James and Margaret King, Lake Mary; sister; Andrea Cole (Daniel) and nephew, Benjamin, Deltona, Fla. Melissa was the godmother of Benjamin, who she loved very much. She also leaves behind sisters in Illinois, Sherry Eggleston (Scott), Cindy Anderson and Angela King-Bice (Donavan).
