Nellie Sandoval

Nellie Sandoval, 91, of Silvis, passed away Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis. Mass of Christian burial will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. A rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family. Nellie was born July 15, 1922, in Dodge City, Kan., the daughter of Juan and Maria Noriega Segura. She married Refugio Sandoval on June 25, 1955, in Silvis. He passed away Oct. 17, 2009. Nellie was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Silvis. She enjoyed crocheting and cooking. She was a wonderful mother and loved spending time with her family. Survivors include her children, Henry Sandoval, Michael Sandoval, Martha Willits, Stella Weed, Patricia Sandoval and Lisa Sandoval; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Carmen, Connie, Teresa and Mary; and brothers, Peter, Joe, Frank, Lupe and Eli. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a sister, Delores.
