Norma Jean (Sides) Phillips, 78, of Colona, passed away Jan. 14, 2017, at Hope Creek Care Center in East Moline.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Schroder Mortuary in Colona. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Norma Jean was born Sept. 9, 1938, in Trumann, Ark., the daughter of Ben "Mark" and Hazel Knight Davis. She married Ollis Sides on Oct. 6, 1956 in Lepanto, Ark. He passed away Feb. 18, 1996.
Norma Jean worked for Servalite for several years. She enjoyed shopping and yard sales. She was an excellent seamstress and was devoted to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also was well known for her homemade biscuits and chocolate gravy.
Survivors include her special friend, Roger Weber; children, Carol (William) Goings of Colona, Gary (Lisa) Sides of Cleveland and Mark (Michelle) Sides Sr. of Colona; grandchildren, Jason Goings, Jill (Brandon) True, Jeremy (Stephanie) Sides, Sara Sides, Katie Sides, Mark (Kristina) Sides Jr., Michael Sides, Amy (Mark Demers) Sides, Ricki Sides, Zackary Prescott, Jeremy Prescott and Joshua (Christy) Smith; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Lauryn, Leigh, Paige, Kinsley, Joey, Isabelle, Faith, Jakob, Roger, Brittany, Zachary, Kyden, Zander, Haileigh, Jordan and one on the way; sister Dot East; brother Donald Davis and a half-sister June Smith.
Norma Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Patsy Davis, Dale Cignotti and Neva Mullins; and a brother, JC Davis.
