Norma Strathdee

Norma A Strathdee, age 101, of Keller, TX passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2022 in Fort Worth TX.

Funeral services will be 11am Thursday, November 10, 2022 at Homewood Evangelical Free Church, Moline, IL with visitation from 10:00-11:00 at the church. Burial will be at the Rock Island National cemetery following the service. Memorials may be made to Homewood Evangelical Free Church. Schroder Mortuary, Silvis is assisting the family with arrangements.

Norma was born July 8, 1921 to Richard and Jennie Riewerts Ashdown in Coe Township, Port Byron. She was a 1939 graduate of Port Byron High School. She attended AIC in Davenport, IA and Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in Chicago. Norma was united in marriage to Robert Strathdee of Silvis May 14, 1949 at Bethel Baptist Church, Port Byron. He preceded her in death April 17, 1994.

Norma worked for the Rock Island County Selective Services Board during WWII. She retired from Moline Heating and Construction in 1982. She is a member of Homewood Evangelical Free Church, where she taught Sunday School, was a member of White Cross and a Bible study group.

Survivors are sons and spouses: Gene and Denise of Canton GA and Kevin and Linda of Tyler TX; daughter in law Melanie Strathdee of Statesboro, GA; grandchildren Ian Strathdee, Erin (Arturo) Holmes, Leah (Shane) Niles, and Emily Strathdee; step-grandchildren Dede (Stacy) Jackson and Christine Smith; great-grandchildren Nova and Lucia Holmes, Henry and Trace Niles, Cody (Gillian) Jackson, Braden Jackson, and Savannah McFall and a great-great grandson Walker Jackson.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, son Daryl in July 2021, a brother Lester, and a sister Bernice.
