Paul Dean Kay, 68, of East Moline, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family and friends after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. Visitation will be 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Burial will be at Erie Cemetery. Memorials may be made to MS Society or American Cancer Society. Paul was born Feb. 22, 1947, in Geneseo, the son of Claire and Jeanne Cox Kay. He married Diana Jacobs in 1972. He later married Kelie Ramsey Daxon on Nov. 23, 2002, in Moline. Paul retired from John Deere in 2003. He was a lifetime Mason and enjoyed sports in general but especially loved golfing, playing softball and umpiring softball. Survivors include his mother, Jeanne Kay; wife, Kelie; children, Shane (Afton) Kay, Camanche, Iowa, Shawna (Brook) Viktor, Davenport, Kylie (Chris) Hambright, East Moline, Keri (Jacob) Bautista, East Moline; stepchildren, Bryan Daxon, Bettendorf, and Michele Daxon, East Moline; and grandchildren, Tristan Bautista, Isaac Bautista, Alec Hurtado-Kay, Colton Viktor, James Hambright, Blake Viktor and Taylor Hambright. Paul was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Ruth.
