Pedro "Pete" Terronez Rangel, 74, of Davenport, passed away Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport.A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Victory Church, Davenport. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, with a prayer service at 4 p.m., at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. Burial will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to the family.Pete was born Oct. 19, 1937, in Moline, the son of Cleofus and Trinidad Terronez Rangel. He married Janet Lee on March 4, 1972, in Davenport. Pete worked as a landscaper and a roofer, retiring from Bi State in 1990. He was the groundskeeper for Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Davenport. He enjoyed playing music, singing, bowling, coaching softball and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Pete loved to entertain, to bring laughter and opened his heart and home to many. He played bass guitar since the mid 1950s, playing with Los Macambos, La Otro Mitad and most recently for the Spanish Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Moline. He also played with The Posse and the Western Rhythm makers and played backup once for Kitty Wells and once for Box Car Willie.Survivors include his wife, Janet, Davenport; children, Mark (Kelly) Rangel, Patrick Rangel and Stephen (Tammi) Rangel; grandchildren, Danielle, Andrew, Anthony, Michael, Zachary and Payton; siblings Rita (Dennis) Lee, Joe (Linda) Rangel, Rudy (Irene) Rangel, Vincent Rangel, Guss (Cindy) Rangel and Michael Rangel. Pete was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Cleofus, Frankie, Robert and Katarino, and a sister, Guadalupe.
