Phyllis A. Peasley, 81, of Colona, passed away June 15, 2016, at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.
As she wished, there will be no public services and cremation rights were accorded. Schroder Mortuary in Colona is assisting the family with arrangements.
Phyllis was born Dec. 14, 1934, in Mackinaw, Ill., the daughter of Gustav and Lydia Eberhardt Laidig. She married Melvin L. Peasley on March 14, 1954, in Bloomington, Ill.
Before marrying, Phyllis worked at Caterpillar as a secretary in the research department. Once her children and husband no longer required her fulltime attention at home, Phyllis worked at several companies, ending her professional career at Kone as a human resources assistant. Phyllis enjoyed playing the piano, sewing, flower gardening, reading, baking (her Dutch apple pie was a family favorite) and spending time with her family. .
Survivors include her husband, Melvin; daughters, Elda Cunningham, Mary (Doug) Brace, Gay Larson and Leah Peasley; sons, Michael Peasley, Eric (Gabi) Peasley and Mel Jr. (Stacey) Peasley; grandchildren, Richard Brace, Molly Cunningham Meyers, Tyler Peasley and Elisabeth Griffiths; a sister, Shirley (Dean) Skaugstad; a brother, Ted (Sylvia) Laidig; and numerous nieces and nephews. Phyllis was preceded in death by her sister, Donna Shreve; her sons-in-law, Mark A. Larson and Robert A. Cunningham; and her parents.
