Raymond Hernandez, 78, of Silvis passed away Feb. 11, 2016 at his home. A memorial mass will be held 11am Friday Feb. 19, 2016 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Silvis. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to service time at the church. Burial will follow at Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude. Schroder Mortuary in Silvis is assisting the family with arrangements. Raymond was born Feb. 19, 1937 in Moline, IL to Natalia Ramos. He married Carmen Herrera March 31, 1965 in Cambridge, IL. He graduated from Alleman High School class of 1955. He went on to join the Air Force and served as a medic from 1956 to 1959. After the Air Force Raymond went to work for International Harvester retiring in 1993. He went on to further his education at Black Hawk College in accounting and went to work for Derby Tech Computers and the East Moline Housing Authority. He finished his working career with Milan Auto Auction. Ray served on the Board of Directors at IH Mississippi Valley Credit Union. He loved shopping, working on cars, dancing, golfing, traveling and taking care of his birds. Survivors include his wife Carmen; children Belinda Guerrero, Michael Guerrero, David (Linda) Guerrero, Claire (Edward) Flinn and Deborah Anderson; grandchildren Joshua, Monica, Raymond, CJ, Chelsea, Madison and Connor; 3 great grandchildren; siblings Nick Ramos, Edward Ramos, Ralph (Dawn) Ramos, Mary Ramos, Rudy (Jackie) Ramos, Bernie (Dan) LaFever, Maggie (Kelly) McGuffy and Eva Ramos. Raymond was preceded in death by his mother and brothers David and Nando.
