Reuben Martel, 52, of East Moline, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Silvis Heights Baptist Church. Visitation will be 1-4 p.m. Sunday at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline. Memorials may be made to Silvis Heights Baptist Church or Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation. He was born Nov. 10, 1960, in Moline, to Paul E. Sr. and Porfiria "Vicki" Moreno Martel. He married Lynne Orton Feb. 22, 1991, in Las Vegas. He was a courier for FedEx for 24 years. Reuben was very active at Silvis Heights Baptist Church, where he was also a trustee. He enjoyed drag racing, golf, photography and watching his grandsons play sports. Survivors include his wife, Lynne, East Moline; children, Renee Nurse, East Moline, Carrie Nurse, Davenport; grandchildren, Micah Orton, Austyn Martel and Quentin Harvey; great-grandchild, Bentley Orton; siblings, Andrew, Rock Island, Daniel, Dubai, UAE, Marshall, East Moline, James, Silvis, Joseph (Pat), East Moline, Stanley, Aurora, Colo., Anita (Terry), Tacoma, Wash., Matthew, Moline, Paul Jr. (Susan), West Palm Beach, Fla., and Micah Martel, New York, N.Y.; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donny and Robert; and his sister, Denise.
