Richard "Rick" Freeborn, 59, of East Moline passed away Tuesday - April 24, 2012 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Funeral services will be 10 AM Saturday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. Visitation will be 4-7pm Friday at the mortuary. Burial is at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline. Rick was born April 29, 1952 in Moline the son of Frank & Ayliffe Bristol Freeborn. He married Rita Warren, September 9, 1972 in East Moline. Rick managed the Zephyr Stations in Moline for 18 years and later worked at Bristol's Carriage Shop in East Moline. He currently owned Freeborn and Son Maintenance. He was an avid Cubs and Bears fan, and enjoyed watching NASCAR. Survivors include his mother Ayliffe Colbert; his wife Rita; children Ian (Sahj) Freeborn and Erin Freeborn; grandchildren Connor, Mackenzie, Dylan, and Aaliyah; special grandchildren Breeonna and Shawn; Siblings Dennis (Ingrid) Freeborn, Steve (LuAnna) Dickinson, Cindy (Dave) Heimbeck, Tom (Fran) Dickinson, Kim (Terry) Fortman, Cheryl Dickinson, Frank (Karen) Freeborn Jr., and Mary (Charles) Little; several nieces and nephews. Rick was preceded in death by his father, step father Eugene Dickinson, and step mother Ethel Freeborn. Rick's family would like to thank the staff, nurses and nurses' aids at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.
