Robert G. Peterson, 81, of Colona, died Monday, April 23, 2012, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Schroder Mortuary, Colona, with visitation two hours prior to service time. Burial is at Viola Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hope Creek Care Center 2nd Floor.
He was born Feb. 17, 1931, in rural Aledo, son of Earl and Minnie Olomon Peterson. He served in the Army in South Korea during the Korean conflict.
He was an assembler at John Deere Harvester in East Moline, retiring May 1, 1980, after 32 years. After his retirement, he worked for Reynolds Ford in East Moline for 18 years delivering cars.
He was a member of Union Local 865, a lifetime member of the Moline American Legion Post 246 and the Korean War Veterans. He was also a member of the Rock Island County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed sports and taking care of his home.
Survivors include his siblings, Lyle Peterson, Colona, Daryl Peterson, Moline, Ruth Ann (Thomas) Dabrowski, Manchester, N.H.; grandson, Tommy Sipes, Springfield, Ill.; several very special nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; a stepbrother; daughter, Pamela Terry; and a grandson, Mikie DeRoo.
