Robert C. Shearer

Robert C. “Bob” Shearer, 84, of Moline passed away on July 6, 2023 at Bickford of Moline. 

Funeral services will be 12:00 noon Monday, July 10, 2023 at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis with visitation 2 hours prior to service time. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Robert was born June 19, 1939, in Springfield, Missouri and was raised in Osceola, Iowa. He proudly served as a Lieutenant in the Navy during the Vietnam era. He graduated from the University of Iowa Law School in 1964 and had a long successful career as an attorney spanning over 30 years, practicing at Schultz, Shearer, & Melaas.

He was an active member of ISBA (Illinois State Bar Association). Bob had a great appreciation for boating and enjoyed spending time on his beloved boat named Sunny Caribbee. He also enjoyed scuba diving, traveling to the Caribbean and Florida, and was an Iowa and Chicago sports fan. He also enjoyed the company of his dog Molly Girl.

Bob is survived by the love of his life, Betty Shearer, as well as his children: Brian (Gina) Bubon, Carrie (Otha) Smith, Melissa (Mike) Hutton, and Becca (Matt) Casillas. His cherished grandchildren include Anthony Bubon, Nicole Bubon, Sofia Smith, Chloe Smith, Joshua Traub, Austin Traub, Bear Casillas, Noni Casillas, and Sasha Casillas.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
