Rose M. Kennedy, 75, of Port Byron, passed away Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis. Visitation will be noon to 3 p.m. Sunday with a prayer service at 2:30 p.m. Cremation rites will follow. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Association, which she volunteered for.
Rose was born Aug. 23, 1937, in Moline, the daughter of Harold and Irene DeJaeger Burns. She married William Clarence Taylor with whom she co-owned Bill's Sign Company for 27 years. He passed away in 1982. She later married James Kennedy. He passed away in 1993.
Rose was a past president of Rock Island County Federation of Women's Club, past chairman of the Silvis Country Music Festival and past treasurer of Bowlesburg PTA and budget and finance. She also worked for State Farm, Sears and First National Bank of Moline.
Survivors include her children, Sue (Dennis) Peeters, Silvis, Tina (Gary) Lear, Moline, Scott Taylor, Dallas, Texas, and Lori (Robert) Smola, Geneseo; grandchildren, Brent, Elizabeth, Tony and Michael; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Kelly, Pat Jennings, Cindy Klouser and Theresa Huyten; brothers Bob, Joe and John Burns.
Rose was preceded in death by her first husband and her second husband.
The family would like to thank Genesis Hospice for the care given to Rose.
