Ross Burlingame, 74, of Silvis, passed away Monday, Oct. 31, 2011, at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Edgewood Baptist Church, Rock Island, with visitation two hours prior to service time. Burial will be at Hampton Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church.
Ross was born July 17, 1937, in LaHarp, Ill., the son of Ross Sr. and Wilma Cannon Burlingame. He married Deanna Halligan Aug. 13, 1955, in Silvis.
Ross drove a semi for Newman Trucking for 11 years. Prior to that, he worked at DSE in Moline for 30 years and Quad City Die Casting for nine years. After his retirement, Ross enjoyed carpentry and handyman work, even designing and building his home is Silvis.
He loved to fish, especially salmon, camping and roasting hot dogs. He could always tell a good joke and make people smile and loved helping others. Ross never met a stranger. Because of his big heart, he was loved by many.
Survivors include his mother, Wilma Rendleman, Rock Island; wife, Deanna, Silvis; son, Brian, Silvis; sister, Marta Ann, Kansas; brother, John Rendleman, Rock Island; and his best buddy, Sissy. Also surviving are his many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, whom he enjoyed greatly.
He was preceded in death by his father; stepmother; stepfather; brothers, Jim, Dean, Dick and Curt Medin.
