Sandi Oliver, 62, of East Moline, passed away Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012, at her home following a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis with visitation two hours prior to service time. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center in Milan.
A devoted wife and loving mother, Sandi was born May 25, 1950, in Moline, the daughter of Everett and Frances Horak Johnson. She married David Oliver on Aug. 31, 1990, in Rock Island.
Sandi was committed to helping people. She worked at United Way and retired after 17 years. She also loved helping animals, and after her retirement was employed at Quad City Animal Welfare Center in Milan. Sandi enjoyed gardening and was an excellent cook and homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, David Oliver, East Moline; son, Zachary Carroll, Chicago; father, Everett Johnson, Silvis; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Donna Mattan, Dubuque, Iowa, David and Buanita Mattan, Erie; sister-in-law, Cynthia Mattan, Fountain Hills, Ariz.; many nieces and nephews and many four-legged friends. She was preceded in death by her mother and brother, William Mattan.
