Sandra "Sue" Larson

Sandra “Sue” Larson, 87, of Silvis passed away Friday, February 23, 2024 at her home. 

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday at Christ Church in East Moline. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Tuesday at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Christ Church of the Quad Cities. 

Sue was born June 21, 1936 in her Dr.’s office in Table Grove, Illinois. She graduated from Orion High School in 1954 and Western Illinois University, Macomb in 1958 with a BS in education. She married Franklyn E. Larson June 15, 1958 in Orion Methodist Church. He passed away July 20, 2013. 

Sue taught first grade at Bushnell West Side School in Bushnell, IL from 1958 to 1960, first grade at Cuba Grade School in Cuba, IL from 1960 to 1962, second, third, and fourth grade girls health, geography, and gym from 1962 to 1963 and then first grade from 1963 to 1969 at George O Barr Grade School in Silvis, IL. She taught part time and substituted in kindergarten and first grade at Barr School from l979 to 1985 where she again became a full time first grade teacher until her retirement in June 1993. Sue also began working at Kile's Hallmark in Bettendorf, IA in 1994 and worked there for several years.

Sue was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority, Delta Kappa Gamma Society, and later Blackhawk Unit of IL Retired Teachers. She was a member of River's Edge Hallmark Collectors Club and was a collector of all things made by Hallmark. She was also a very active member of Christ United Methodist Church in East Moline, IL and enjoyed volunteering with the Methodist Women. 

Survivors include her daughters Laura (Jeff) Kramer and Sarah (Brian) Daggett; grandchildren John Franklyn Kramer and Kendall Sue-Marie Kramer. 

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a sister Beverly Hickman.
