Sharon A. Dison

Sharon A. Dison, 85, of Geneseo passed away March 14, 2024 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. 

Funeral services will be 10:00am Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Schroder Mortuary in Colona. Visitation will be 4-7pm Tuesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Dayton Corners Cemetery in Colona. Memorials may be made to the family. 

Sharon was born December 13, 1938 in Moline, IL the daughter of Ivan and Alice (Matteson) Lane. She graduated from UTHS in 1956 and attended Black Hawk College, earning her LPN license. Sharon worked at the State Hospital in East Moline until it closed. She later returned to work at the East Moline Correctional Center as a nurse, retiring after a total of 43 years working for the state. Sharon enjoyed going to the casino, spending time with family and friends, and loved cooking and trying new recipes. 

Survivors include her children Patty Ekin of Colona and Ron (Luann) Whipple of Colona; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren and a brother Kurt Lane of Atkinson. 

Sharon was preceded in death by her companion of 34 years Francis Gene Hawk and sisters Norma, Bobby, and Rene.
