Simmons L. Stingley Sr., 75, of Fulton, passed away Thursday, July 3, 2014, at Illini Restorative Care Center, Silvis. The family, in respect for his wishes, will hold no memorial service. Memorials may be made to the family to cover medical expenses not covered by insurance or to the American Cancer Society. Schroder Mortuary, Silvis, is assisting the family with arrangements. Simmons was born March 16, 1939, in Morrison, son of Bert and Marie Hamm Stingley. He married Marian Upchurch on Dec. 7, 1968. Simmons retired from John Deere Harvester as a forklift operator. He enjoyed spending time with his family, drinking and fishing. Survivors include his estranged wife, Marian; daughters, Christina (Dan) Heatherly, Colona, and Pam Winstein, Davenport; son, Simmons (Terri) Stingley Jr., Garden Plain, Ill.; stepdaughter, Peggy Ann (David) Lee, Cable; stepsons, Dewight Ward, Iowa, Jeff Haskins, Las Vegas, Nev., and Billy Ward, Rock Island; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a sister, Bernice Misfeldt. Simmons was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John.
