Steve Mascaro, 68, of Colona passed away August 1, 2020 at his home.
Per his wishes he will be cremated. A memorial visitation will be 4-7pm Tuesday at Schroder Mortuary in Colona. Due to COVID-19 restrictions social distancing guidelines will be followed and masks will be required. Memorials may be made to Colona Fire Department, Colona Little League, or Colona Food Pantry.
Steve was born November 15, 1951 in Moline, IL the son of Orlando and Betty Croxton Mascaro. He worked as a school bus driver for UTHS, a DJ for WKBF radio, and was a policeman for Green Rock. He volunteered as a Boy Scout Assistant, was a coach and founder of the Colona American Legion Baseball Team, an umpire, coach, and announcer for little league, a Jaycee’s member, a dispatcher for Colona Fire Department, a weather spotter and was involved with ESDA. Steve never met a stranger and always tried to help others. He mentored many over the years in his beloved St. Patrick’s parking lot.
Survivors include his sisters Carmella “Jo” Mascaro of Bettendorf, Sheri Mascaro of Davenport; brother Terry (Selma) Mascaro of Fredericktown, MO; nieces Stefanie “Stevie” Valle, Samantha Valle, Ashley Rehkop, Nicole Minson; great nephews Landon and Theo; great niece Addison; many “adopted parking lot kids” including Michelle, Kenny, Jake, Julie, Jill, Anna and his buddy Bubba.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents.
